Pricing guide · Waterjet cutting

How to quote waterjet cutting jobs

A waterjet cutting quote adds up material, machine time, setup and finishing, then applies your margin and quantity breaks. The inputs below are the ones that move the price most. SeekMake applies them automatically to every uploaded file.

Start a waterjet quote with material: the price of the plate or slab, and how much of it the part uses with your scrap allowance. Then add cutting time from cut length and feed rate, which falls steeply as thickness rises and as edge quality goes up. Pierces, setup, finishing such as deburring, and certificates come on top, before margin and quantity breaks.

FAQ

Questions shops ask before switching

What is the biggest cost driver?

Usually material and machine time. Setup matters most on small batches.

How do I set quantity breaks?

Spread setup over the batch and lower the unit price at the quantities your customers order most.

Can I automate this?

Yes. Enter your rates in SeekMake and every uploaded file is priced with the same rules.

Is abrasive a big part of waterjet cost?

Garnet is one of the main running costs on an abrasive waterjet, and it is used for every minute of cutting. That is why most shops price by time or by metre.

Should I charge more to pierce glass or stone?

Many shops do, because brittle materials need a slower, gentler pierce to avoid cracking. A higher pierce charge for those materials covers the extra time.

Which files can customers upload?

DXF and STEP files. The part is checked and measured automatically when it is uploaded.

How much does SeekMake cost?

There is a free plan to start. Paid plans add more features, lower fees on online orders and priority support.
